Obama's Half Measure Approach to Governing

America is a great nation because it was built on some very basic principles such as hard work and perseverance. America has the leading global economy because U.S. industry workers are motivated to succeed and are therefore, very resourceful and innovative. Anyone who builds a business understands they must put all their resources and energy behind it or it will fail. It is impossible to be successful without hard work and sacrifice.

Now let’s examine the policies of President Obama. Every major piece of legislation or policy he implements is done with half measures or half the effort to make it successful. Thus, it is easy to conclude that Obama policies and legislation are destined to fail.

ObamaCare is a prime example. The sole focus of ObamaCare legislation is on health insurance companies to lower the costs of healthcare. Legislators and the White House made deals with special interest groups including big pharmaceutical companies. It is impossible to lower the costs in the healthcare industry if all players in the market are not equally challenged to make sacrifices in an effort to reduce costs. Pharmaceutical companies, trial lawyers, doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers were ignored in the legislation and are free to continue to pad their profits. Thus, ObamaCare legislation is a half measure because it fails to tackle all of the outlets responsible for rising medical costs. For this reason ObamaCare will fail to cut the rising costs of healthcare.

Obama’s Afghanistan policy is another great example of a plan that is destined to fail. First, Obama took forever to decide on a strategy. Secondly, Obama refused to give his generals the necessary resources they requested to complete the job. Thirdly, Obama has a set a deadline for the conflict. And finally, the White House has instituted so many mandates and regulations it makes it nearly impossible to win the conflict. For instance, U.S. soldiers can only open fire when they see the enemy and of course they are not allowed to aggressively interrogate enemy combatants. All of these provisions in Obama’s Afghanistan policy are not only making it hard for the U.S. to win the war, but it is needlessly putting our troops in danger.

Obama’s financial reform is also another failed policy because every pundit agrees it will fail to prevent another financial meltdown. Once again Obama caved to special interests and the bill still allows the government to bailout financial institutions deemed “to big to fail”. And what’s worse is that the bill solely targets the private sector and fails to address government entities that also contributed to the meltdown including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Securities Exchange Commission, and the Federal Reserve to name a few.

Obama’s nearly one trillion dollar recovery act (the stimulus) is another prime example of a policy that failed to accomplish its chief goal of creating jobs. Instead, Obama caved to the special interests of each liberal congressperson to pass a bill loaded with special interest projects and wasteful pork barrel spending. In essence, the stimulus bill was another bailout to keep state governments afloat and a down payment on Obama’s progressive education and green environmental philosophies.

Yes, every Obama policy will fail to meet its defined objective because Obama only uses half measures to tackle the problem. After all it is easier to make deals with special interest groups than it is to take them on. It is also easier to ignore your adversaries than to try to implement their ideas into the legislation. Besides, Obama is too worried about offending his liberal cohorts and is too arrogant to listen to opposing viewpoints. Thus, we have healthcare reform where healthcare costs will skyrocket out of control; financial reform that allows the government agencies that failed to prevent the meltdown to continue with their status quo; a stimulus that failed to create jobs; and a war that is becoming a lost cause. Face it; Obama is more concerned about saying he accomplished healthcare reform and financial reform than he is with accomplishing these tasks correctly.
