Obama's Narcissism is a Presidential Joke

Obama’s narcissism is making a complete and utter mockery out of the Presidential position. Like no president in history, Obama spends more time going on comedy, talk, and variety TV shows than he does on news shows or holding presidential press conferences. Sure a lot of these medium outlets did not exist decades ago, but other Presidents would not have been caught dead on MTV or the Comedy Channel.
Some argue that this is the new way to campaign in order to reach target demographics to resonate his message. However, Obama has been on shows like The View when it was not campaign season. The White House will argue that Obama’s obsession of doing questionable TV shows like the Tonight Show is to defend his legislation such as ObamaCare and the Recovery Act (the stimulus). Obama likes using these shows to express his views for a variety of obvious reasons.

First, most of the shows that Obama is guest on are run by liberals, have liberal hosts, and for the most part have predominately liberal viewers. Thus, it is a great environment that will make Obama look good since he will face no tough questions. He will be free to push the positive aspects of his policies. For instance, on ObamaCare Obama can push positive aspects such as insurers having to accept “preexisting conditions” and the end of lifetime caps on insurance policies. On these TV programs Obama can avoid facing tough questions on ObamaCare such as the legalities of the insurance mandate, the rising costs of insurance premiums, and why many companies are considering dropping their employee run healthcare insurance programs. In other words, these TV medium forums are great places for Obama to further indoctrinate his liberal base without any debate.

The proper forum to inform the nation about policy issues should be through a nationally televised press conference. Unfortunately, Obama has only given two of these and for good reason. First, Obama will face tough questions that are not scripted and he cannot therefore, read answers off his teleprompter. Secondly, Obama botched his first press conference badly by accusing Cambridge Police of “acting stupidly”. Face it; Obama cannot think well on his feet and does not like it when he looks bad – it is bad for his ego. Thus, Obama has decided to run from press conferences and news shows to the comforts of liberal talk TV to defend legislation and to spin his progressive ideological message.

But what happens when one of these so called liberal shows begins to ask tough questions and ends up mocking the president? Obama becomes the laughing stock of the country; and in doing so he also made a mockery out of the Presidential position. This is exactly what happened when President Obama was a guest on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show. Stewart put Obama on the defensive throughout their discussion and the audience was not laughing along, they were laughing specifically at Obama who displayed a complete and utter ineptness when faced with tough sarcasm about his decisions and policies.

Will the President stop going on these shows now that he was exposed as incompetent? No, he will not go on the Daily Show again, but he will continue to use MTV and other non-news liberal biased talk shows to defend his policies. After all, the only other choice is to hold a press conference or go on real news shows and face tough questions - and we know this is not going to happen. After all, Obama’s ego is too frail to have a real debate over his actions and policies.
